Why I Started Southern Scribe Press

People often ask me, “Why publishing?”

Truthfully, it’s becoming one of my favorite questions to answer.

After spending years on the self-publishing path, researching, experimenting, and questioning whether it was the right fit, I started to see some patterns. The publishing industry, especially for new and independent authors, was full of gaps… and far too many traps.

I saw vanity publishers charging thousands upfront while still taking hefty royalties. I watched moderators in Facebook groups use their positions of influence to sell access to information that is offered freely if you just know where to look. And I noticed this strange, toxic idea floating around: one that says if you’re passionate about writing, you’re not taking it seriously. That it’s all business, or you’re doing it wrong.

That’s not how I see it. Not even close.

Yes, I hope my books sell. Yes, I want to grow as an author and reach more readers. I’m also deeply driven by a love for writing and the belief that stories matter. The belief that they connect us, heal us, and inspire us, and I know I’m not alone.

That’s why I created Southern Scribe Press.

I wanted to build a space where authors could keep their rights, earn their full royalties, and feel empowered, never intimidated, by the publishing process. A space where your passion is respected, your voice is protected, and your success isn’t measured solely in sales figures.

Whether  you’re a new writer who doesn’t know where to begin, or someone who's been burned by the industry before, Southern Scribe Press is here to offer you what all authors deserve:  ethical publishing, personalized support, and a love for storytelling at our core.
